IN BRUGES.
Have you seen that movie? It’s one of my favorites. I remember seeing it when it first came out and being mesmerized by the haunting, sinister architecture of Bruges.
Contrary to the film, Bruges is an absolutely charming and adorable city! I wished I had had at least another day or two in the city. I think I would have skipped a day in Brussels and stayed in Bruges. I had some wonderful recommendations from my good friend Diana including this bar (De Garre), which is a hole-in-the-wall bar at the end of an alley. The beer is 11.5% so they cut you off after 3 drinks…and trust me, you don’t want 3 drinks…you’re feeling it after the first one!
I could go on and on about how much I loved Bruges but I think the photos speak for themselves. Sorry for the excessive amount of photos but really, how do you par down the number of photos to post when you have a city this beautiful?!
Also, next time I come back to this city, I’m bringing my Dad and we’re doing a beer tour of Bruges and then a beer tour of the entire country. Prepare yourself, Dad!

Bruges is such a charming little town and I would highly recommend visiting it! If you’re a fan of yummy food and even better beer, you’ve found your paradise IN BRUGES!

Waffles, Fries, and Beer! Sounds like a balanced diet to me.
Definitely ;) I’d say a diet of champions!
I’ve never seen the film or been to Bruges, but now I’m desperate to go there! That photo with the bright red building! And that cute little boat on the water. And all the amazing architecture! Overuse of exclamation makrs definitely necessary ;-)
You need to watch the movie! Definitely a dark comedy but really good :) Thanks so much for all your sweet words :) It was so hard to narrow down which photos to display because seriously, such a beautiful city!
I love that film (any films with dark humour, Ralph Fiennes and comedy dwarves are always gonna be a winner for me(◕‿- )) Your photos are amazing, I’m definitely putting Bruges on my to-do list. Proper fries. And beer. I’m practically drooling. Great work(◠‿◠)
Ahhh! Thank you so much :) But really, how can you go wrong with fries and beer? Plus, throw in a Belgian waffle and I’m in heaven!
I’m heading to Brussels this weekend and was thinking about doing a day in Bruges as well and I think this blog helped me make my decision to do it! Looking forward to see these pretty pictures in real life! :)
Definitely, definitely do a day in Bruges. Honestly, my favorite city in Belgium and one of my favorite cities in all of Europe. Super manageable and great beer (duhhhh, which is super important to me!). I much preferred Bruges over Brussels. Also, make sure to tour the De Halve Maan Brewery (http://www.halvemaan.be/en/home). It is amazing and gives the best view of the city! Have so much fun…I’m so jealous!!! Send me a beer?! xo
