6 years ago, I started this blog as a way to keep my family updated on my travels and musings while living in Heidelberg, Germany for graduate school. I assumed I would finish graduate school in 18 months and move back to the United States. Nothing prepared me for meeting the love of my life at a ball overlooking the Heidelberg Castle.

Our relationship has taken us to several countries, balancing school between the two of us, embarking on a long-distance relationship between Germany and Scotland, me moving to Hamburg, and having the best adventures together over the past 4 years. If you want to know our full story, read our American-German love story.

But nothing prepared me for 2 weeks ago – while visiting my parents and sister in Traverse City, Michigan – when the Prince got down on one knee next to Lake Michigan and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. My parents and sister were particularly sneaky, having started planning this last December with him and involving several FaceTime calls with a fabulous jewelry store in my hometown.

The Prince and I are both so over-the-moon excited about this next chapter in our lives and can’t wait to take all of you along with us! It’s been so humbling to see how many people have reached out to us with messages of love, excitement, and congratulations. It’s truly amazing the friends we’ve made all around the world.

  9. Married life is an adventure. There’s always something to learn, explore, and overcome. You laugh, cry, fight, make-up, grow up, speak up, and shut up. It’s epic, memorable, fun, exciting, and worth it. Marriage is everything it’s cracked up to be and more, but it’s definitely a lifelong adventure.
