I spent the past 10 days between Hamburg, Germany (my future home) and Kiel, Germany, the Prince’s hometown. I’ve had such a wonderful time these past few months exploring Kiel with the Prince and last week, I got to experience the biggest event of the year – Kieler Woche! Kieler Woche (in English: Kiel Week) is the largest sailing event in the entire world. The event usually has around 5,000 sailors, 2,000 ships, and anywhere from 1-3 million visitors. I spent most of the week indulging in festival food and walking along the water!
We spent a couple days in Hamburg and I’m so excited to announce that we found a great apartment in our dream neighborhood (Eimsbüttel)! After emailing about 20-30 different apartment listings, we actually found this through a friend. 3 bedrooms, American (!) kitchen, balcony, original wooden floors, bar/cafe across the street, U-Bahn (metro) a street away, and within walking distance to my work (and on budget!!!). Needless to say, I was ecstatic when we found it!
Enjoy the photos of Kieler Woche below ! We had such great weather there…warm and barely any rain…amazing!
The seaside bar with the pink lounge was probably my favorite place of the entire week! And that tower above? When the Prince was a young boy, he used to beg his parents to take him there during Kieler Woche so he could see the fish come flying down!
