What’s better than beer and wonderful cupcakes for your birthday? I headed with friends to Munich to celebrate my 24th birthday! To be honest, the last (and only) time I was in Munich, I had a horrible experience so I was excited to go back and change my impression of the city! I definitely had a much better time the second time around : )

I mentioned this in my previous post on Salzburg, Austria here but I’m beyond OBSESSED with the Sound of Music. It always makes me laugh that the Germans and Austrians have no idea what the Sound of Music is when I mention it. I grew up watching this movie (remember how it had two VHS tapes?) and can literally recite every scene and song.
My family secretly thinks of ourselves as the “von Wagner” family. I mean, there are 5 girls and 2 boys in my family…and we are almost in the correct order as in the Sound of Music. My siblings and I *may* have acted out the songs when we were young kids!
I keep talking about how I’m currently in the process of writing my thesis. However, I realize I’ve been a bit vague on the exact topic. I thought it would only be fitting to give an overview of my thesis (considering it is my life right now)!

I headed to Salzburg this past Thursday and finally got to live out every childhood dream I’ve had since watching “The Sound of Music” on VHS so long ago 🙂 Somehow, I also seem to be so extremely lucky and get the best weather when I travel. Salzburg continued this streak with gorgeous blue skies and a temperature around 50F (10C).
On my way back to Germany a few months ago, I took advantage of Icelandair’s free layover in Reykjavik. The city is quite small so it is manageable in about a day or two. While I was there, I couldn’t get over how much it resembled St. John’s, Newfoundland in size, building structure/colors, and location (both on harbors). Reykjavik is a must-add city to your travel list!
I’ve said this again and again but I really do live in the most beautiful place in the United States (“Good Morning America” agrees with me as well)! I also think I could get Jamie from “Ink + Adventure” to back me up on this as well 🙂
This Christmas, Santa brought me a Sony A6000 and I’ve been dying to play with it! 🙂 It snowed a few days ago and I decided to have a mini photo shoot at the Traverse City State Hospital. The Traverse City State Hospital was built in 1885 as one of the major psychiatric hospitals in Michigan. The hospital worked on the philosophy of “beauty is therapy” which advocated kindness, comfort, pleasure, and beautiful flowers instead of restraints and straightjackets. While it primarily housed mentally ill patients, it also housed patients of tuberculosis, polio, diphtheria, flu, and typhoid as well as serving the elderly and recovering addicts.
This past year has been a huge blogging year for me! First off, have you noticed the new layout?! When I switched over to a [dot]com earlier this year, I found a layout I liked but didn’t love. Honestly, I started resenting blogging because I ended up despising my layout. The customer service was HORRIBLE and I realized it lacked a bunch of features I wanted. Most of all, it wasn’t clean. I felt like it was crowded and my good friend always thought it seemed a bit “unfinished” (totally agree with her). I stumbled across Carolina’s work a few weeks ago and fell IN LOVE with her layouts. Plus, she has amazing customer service, made all the changes/additions I wanted, and replied back so promptly. I would recommend her 110%!!! I’m so so so so happy with how my layout turned out 🙂
When I started writing this blog back in September 2013, I honestly only imagined that my family and close friends would be reading this. After 6 months, I realized people all over the world were reading this “small” blog. I met up with some people passing through Heidelberg (Kathleen and Kellee!) and made friendships with some of my favorite bloggers. Thanks Margo, Annie, Melanie, and Jen for actually meeting with me in person this year. I’m lucky to have Margo and Melanie in Heidelberg with me 🙂 Plus, Annie gets harassed with my (almost) daily emails/tweets/instagrams!
In 2014, I finally took the leap and changed Beer Time With Wagner from wordpress[dot]com to wordpress[dot]org, thus giving me full control over my blog and not longer having the wordpress[dot]com in my website address! Even though I’ve toyed with the idea of changing the name of Beer Time With Wagner (I’m starting to outgrow it and my origial vision), I’m still too attached to it 🙂 I’m sure I’ll change it at some point this year but I’m still in love with it right now.
I feel like I say this every year but 2014 has been the best year yet! I met some amazing people, went on life-changing trips, and got to live in Europe. This year, I’ve surpassed my traveling goals and feel like I have so much to live up to in 2015 🙂 The adventure called life has only begun!
Normandy, France is my most favorite region in all of Europe. Oh my goodness, I have such a love affair with this area. If I could, I would pick up, buy a small cottage, and move there today! Below I’ve listed my 7 favorite, most adorable villages (ok, sometimes cities) in all of Normandy, France!
If you’ve been following me on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram, you’ve probably noticed that I’m on a whirlwind trip around Europe right now. I mentioned this in an earlier post but my sister and I have decided to apply to one-year business programs in Europe for Autumn 2015 (and yes, I plan on being a perpetual student). I have a really strong political science background but want more of an economic/business background to complement my previous studies.
My sister and I started our journey in Scandinavia. We flew into Copenhagen (Denmark is officially country #26 for me!) and spent a day there before heading to Lund, Sweden to visit a friend who is doing a one-year master’s in Management. While I wish we had more time in Copenhagen, we managed to fit everything we really wanted to do into 24 hours. And your bank account will thank you for only staying in Copenhagen for a day!
