Spring Travel 2015

It started out with me taking a break while I went on a one week trip through the Balkans before I moved to Sofia, Bulgaria. And somehow that one week turned into a month?! But honestly, it made me realize just how much I love blogging and how I want to put so much more work into blogging. I haven’t even blogged about Sofia and I’ve now been here over 5 weeks! Time is flying by…I leave to go back to Michigan for 7 weeks on July 18th. To be honest, I’m ready. 100% ready to get home, decompress, RELAX, and let my parents spoil me before I head off to Edinburgh, Scotland to start business school!

I think the title says it all! Because being a two-time childhood cancer survivor and 22 years cancer free today means I get to use Taylor Swift’s song “22” TWICE in my life.

So cheers to 22 years cancer free! And another 22, and another 22, and another 22…

I love London and Paris just as much as the next person but sometimes I find the cities way too touristy and overwhelming! You can’t walk more than 10 feet without running into another American. Throughout my travels in Europe, I’ve come across some great cities and regions that offer similar experiences to those touristy cities…without the tourists! And most of the time, these places are significantly cheaper than the touristy destination. So go visit some of these alternative European city breaks before the secret is out and tourists start to overwhelm them!

The Mom Behind Wayfaring With Wagner (Interview!)

Today I have an extra special treat for all my readers…an interview with my wonderful mother! She’s also known as Kalamity Kim, Kim Possible, and Supermom! Below she spills on motherhood (to 7 children!), travel, and everything in-between.

Words don’t properly describe my mother. She always has a smile on her face, ALWAYS. My mom is also the unofficial editor of my blog, loves bright colors, and has perfected the duck face. And she has this insane memory. She somehow remembers all the preferences, likes, dislikes of me and my siblings. She not only was the 1st female firefighter in the state of Arizona but she was also in the Top 10 of the Mrs. Arizona pageant. This woman has done some incredible things in life and I’m so excited to share her with all of you today 🙂 Enjoy and Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!

Dreaming in Diocletian’s Palace // Split

When I saw a property on Airbnb that let me stay in Diocletian’s Palace during my trip to Split a few weeks ago, I immediately clicked “book.” I mean, all my inner princess fantasies were finally going to come true!

To just debunk a few misconceptions: Diocletian’s Palace isn’t your typical palace. I would describe it as a small city within the city of Split. The streets remind me so much of Venice…tiny, crooked, dead ends all the time, and streets with multiple names. Also, it is seriously a photographer’s paradise. I’m not sure if I liked it more at day or at night!

I have mentioned this multiple times before (and maybe a bit excessively) but I think that Budapest is one of the best cities in all of Europe! Seriously…the history, the food, the coffee, the architecture, the thermal baths, the politics. Everything about the city fascinates me so much! I was lucky enough to go back over Easter weekend and continued to fall in love with the city.

Here are some of my favorite things in Budapest that you must NOT MISS on your next visit there!

Besides having lots of girl bonding at the Paris bloggers meet-up a few weeks ago, Margo organized a gourmet food tour with Hidden Paris Walking Tours for all of us! Now considering I love food (especially gourmet, yummy food), I had no hesitation in saying yes!

Seaside Blues in Opatija

Yes, the water and sky were really that blue. And yes, Opatija should be added to your travel bucket list ASAP! This little seaside resort town in the northern Croatian region of Istria is as charming and authentic as it gets. A favorite vacation destination of the Austrian royal family, Opatija is an influence of Austro-Hungarian, Italian, and Croatian cultures, architecture, and food. I visited here a few years ago with my family but couldn’t wait to come back!

I headed to Paris this past weekend with Margo, Melanie, Jen, and Alex! We had been talking about doing a blogger meet-up since this past fall so it was great for all of us to get together! I know Margo and Melanie pretty well because we all live(d) in Heidelberg (man, do I miss those girls and our coffee dates!) and I had met Jen on a previous trip to London. Even though this was my first time meeting Alex, I think we are going to be pretty good friends 🙂 Plus she lives in Aberdeen, Scotland so we will be neighbors next year!

Greetings from Zagreb, Croatia!

I’ve now been in Zagreb, Croatia for two weeks so this post is very much overdue! Oh goodness, where do I even begin? The weather here is gorgeous and I’m absolutely loving my internship. By far the hardest part is not knowing the language!!! Even though I’ve lived in Germany, I knew enough German to read and understand almost everything. I never felt as though I was completely lost so not being able to communicate is definitely frustrating. However, I’m starting to pick up basic Croatian phrases and downloaded a few iPhone apps to help me!
