My family has a slight obsession with Disney/Universal Studios! We started going to Disney World when I was 2 or 3 years old and it has been a family tradition to go yearly ever since. Once my siblings and I got a bit older, we started migrating to Universal Studios. Everything is self-contained (no cars necessary) so all of us kids can run and do what we like without my parents worrying at all.
We went to Universal Studios during my sister, Paris’s, spring break this year (she’s the only one left in high school). Ironically, she was on a class trip to the Netherlands but that didn’t stop us! I was still home from Germany and 3 of my other siblings flew in from college…all the way from Michigan, Massachusetts, and New York. My Grandma even flew in from Virginia to join us as well!
My parents and I drove down to Florida from northern Michigan. It was 22 hours and only a few meltdowns occurred! We actually took a Facebook bet on who would have the first meltdown. I swear my Dad did but he says I did (liar liar ;) ). The minute we crossed the Mason-Dixon line, I literally cried due to the warm weather. 50F weather had never felt so amazing…my skin didn’t know how to react!!! Also, I made my parents stop at Chick-fil-a (they’d never been to one)! While we were there, I was introduced to “Little Miss Cherry Blossom 2014.” Imagine the TV show “Toddlers & Tiaras” and you’ll have an image of this girl. It was so funny, I wish I had caught the interaction on film :)
Seriously, I absolutely love these family vacations. The weather was perfect and my family had an awesome time! We even upgraded to the club level of our resort which meant we pretty much got unlimited food and alcohol for free (within reason). They had a huge breakfast, afternoon snacks/meal, happy hour, and dessert hour. We could’ve spent all day up on the club floor just eating ;)
I can’t wait until I have kid(s?) one day and relive all these memories with them. Definitely one of the highlights from my childhood that continues today!
First time at Harry Potter world and it was everything I expected…and more! Let’s be honest, my letter to Hogwarts was lost in the mail ;) But I still got to enjoy the Harry Potter experience (and the frozen Butterbeers are epic).
